Michigan Tech will celebrate Environment Water Day 2021 March eighteen-24 with digital activities
associated to the United Nations theme, “Valuing Water.”

Michigan Tech’s once-a-year celebration of the worldwide function focuses on the quite a few ways that h2o is important to life. This calendar year, the group is
invited to activities that showcase the value of h2o from social, economic, cultural
and environmental views.

Anyone is welcome to the digital celebration. A group artwork display and screening
of the movie Brave Blue Environment kick off the week-very long function. The schedule features speakers,
a functionality by the Woodland Singers, a h2o-focused Husky Bites presentation, a
research level of competition and cost-free household artwork activities.

  • March eighteen – Community Artwork Demonstrate: Local artists and group users of all ages share what
    h2o means to them by creativity and creation in a digital gallery.
  • March eighteen – seven- 8:30 p.m.: Brave Blue Environment facilitated discussion with Nancy Langston (SS/GLRC)
    & Dr. Casey Huckins (BIO/GLRC) as portion of the Sustainability Movie Series.  
  • March 22 – 6 p.m.: Water-focused Husky Bites presentation and the Three Minute Thesis-fashion
    research level of competition open to undergraduate and graduate college students of all majors.  
  • March 23 – 4:30 p.m.: Youth speaker Braedon Butterfield, member of the Crimson Cliff Band of Lake
    Outstanding Chippewa and an aspiring journalist, will present a discuss about valuing h2o.  
  • March 23 – 6 p.m.: Artwork Evening for All with area artwork educator and artist Melissa Hronkin, with
    a reading of “We Are Water Protectors” by Carole Lindstrom, adopted by an artwork undertaking
    honoring the value of h2o for all residing items. Lisa Denomie, author of “Sea Yoga,”
    will information an expressive movement activity. Judy Sarosik, teacher and artist of Peace
    Crane Mobiles, potential customers participants in folding an origami fish, also sharing her artwork
    and enjoy of character.  
  • March 24 – 4 p.m.: Panel discussion showcasing Diane P. Dupont, professor of economics at Brock
    College Patty Loew, director of the Center for Native American and Indigenous
    Research at Northwestern College and a professor in the Medill School of Journalism
    and Ali Mirchi, assistant professor of h2o sources engineering at Oklahoma Condition
    College and a Michigan Tech alum.
